Case Study 5 - Macassar Ebony Kitchen...BriefMatching veneers over a long length isn't possible with mass-produced cabinetry. Exotic woods add complexity due to their unique graining. Matching the Macassar Ebony veneers to be stitched together for this kitchen took over 12 hours. The customer wanted to mix different materials for a unique look. The Macassar Ebony units were finished in a low sheen, hard wearing finish suitable for a kitchen. The fascias were made from acrylic parapan, contrasting well against the grain of the veneer, white parapan was used to highlight the larder. We developed the kitchen through a number of stages, over the course of several weeks, with the customer. Due to the materials being used, we produced a number of samples of both the veneer and the parapan so the right combination could be chosen. Miele appliances were incorporated into the kitchen during installation and the result was a very modern, clean and eye-catching look. CAD Drawing
