Brief

“Pair of painted display cabinets with integrated lighting, and mouldings to match the period fittings of the room, to be fitted either side of a chimney breast.”

This commission came from an interior designer in Harrogate who had heard of our work through contacts. The display units were for a collection of china so the design placed the lights at the top of the piece and used toughened glass for shelves to display the china at its best.

The units sat either side of an chimney breast so, to create a straight display unit, a decorative panel was used to scribe to the chimney side. The Victorian mouldings were copied to ensure the new mouldings would be an accurate match and complement the room.

The CAD drawing needed to be detailed so the customer understood exactly how the units would fit either side of the chimney and the storage options for each piece.

Once the CAD drawings and quotation were approved the piece was handmade and primed in our workshops.

To protect the integrity of the period mouldings we scribed all of our new mouldings over the originals. Hand painting with an oil eggshell finish both protected and enhanced the finished piece.
